Yarra Plenty Waves and Yarra Swim School are committed to resolving concerns in a fair, respectful and timely manner. All members are encouraged to raise concerns early and work towards a positive outcome.
How to raise a concern
Concerns can be raised:
with a coach, teacher or member of staff
with a committee member or Grievance Officer
via email or in writing
in person or over the phone
Concerns may be raised formally or informally, and can be made confidentially.
All matters will be handled in a confidential, respectful and timely manner.
Types of concerns
Swimming and program-related concerns
For training, lessons or program-related matters:
speak with your coach or teacher first
allow time for the issue to be addressed
if unresolved, escalate to the head coach or program lead
General club and swim school concerns
For general matters:
raise the issue with the most appropriate person (coach, member of staff or committee member)
if unresolved, escalate to the committee or Grievance Officer
Safeguarding and wellbeing
For concerns relating to:
child safety
vulnerable people
inappropriate behaviour or misconduct
These should be raised directly with the Grievance Officer. If a person is at immediate risk of harm, contact 000.

We aim to:
resolve issues as early as possible
listen to all parties
focus on fair and practical outcomes
maintain confidentiality where appropriate
Where a matter cannot be resolved at an initial level, it will be escalated to the appropriate club or swim school representative for review.
