All children, young people and vulnerable people have the right to feel safe and be safe at all times, including when participating in sport.
Yarra Plenty Waves and Yarra Swim School are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all children, young people and vulnerable people.
We have adopted Swimming Australia’s National Integrity Framework, including:

These policies outline our zero-tolerance approach to harm, abuse and neglect, and set clear expectations for behaviour across our club and swim school.
Copies of these policies are available via the Safe Sport section of the Swimming Australia website (www.swimming.org.au), as well as within our club governance documents.

Screening and recruitment
In accordance with the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy:
all staff and volunteers are subject to appropriate recruitment, screening and training processes
all staff, committee members, coaches, officials and volunteers who may have unsupervised contact with children are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check
Raising a Concern
We encourage all members to speak up if they have any concerns about safety, behaviour or wellbeing. Concerns can be raised with a coach, committee member or our Grievance Officer. All matters will be managed in a confidential, respectful and timely manner.
