'Next Wave'

Junior Talent Development Pathway

Invitation-only program for selected swimmers.  Bridging the gap between Learn to Swim and competitive squads.

About 'Next Wave: Junior Talent Development Pathway

We are delighted to introduce the 'Next Wave', our exclusive junior talent development pathway program. Designed for swimmers who have shown strong potential in the pool.  This program bridges the gap between Learn to Swim and Yarra Plenty Waves squads.

Through a focused clinic this spring school holidays, swimmers will work on their technique, grow in confidence, and experience the excitement of squad-style training, all under the guidance of our expert coaches.

Why Join Next Wave?
  • refine technique and build a strong swimming foundation

  • train with experienced Yarra Plenty Waves coaches

  • build stamina, speed, and race-ready skills

  • be part of a team, make new friends, and share the excitement of squad training

  • explore a pathway to future YPW squads

The Yarra River, from which our club is named, is known as Birrarung, meaning River of Mists in the language of Woiwurrung spoken by the Wurundjeri.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional custodians of this land. We respect their unique ability to care for the country and their deep spiritual connection to it. We honour Elders Past and present, who have resided in the area and who are an integral part of the region's history.
