What is the YPW 24-hr Swimathon?

The YPW 24-hr Swimathon is a fundraising initiative where our athletes, family and friends are sponsored to swim in a 24-hour relay; raising funds for our swimming club.

Although it is a challenge, you don’t need to be a competitive swimmer to participate – people of all abilities can join in and take part. You can swim any style or distance that suits you; whether it be 10 or 100 laps in freestyle, breaststroke, sidestroke, or doggy paddle – it is all about participation!

How does it work?

Swimmers select a period of time in which to participate over the 24-hour duration.   During each window block swimmers create a roster for their swimmers, so you can swim as many laps as you wish! Always having at least one swimmer in the water doing laps.

For the over night shifts, swimmer are welcome to rest or sleep between their laps.  BYO bedding.

Who can take part?

Anyone can take part! Whether you are 5 or 85 years old, a doggy paddler or squad swimmer… we’d love you to dive in and help support our fundraising event.

Where will the event take place?

Our Swimathon will be held at our home training pool, Herb Norman Pool (Yarra Plenty), Greensborough

The Yarra River, from which our club is named, is known as Birrarung, meaning River of Mists in the language of Woiwurrung spoken by the Wurundjeri.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional custodians of this land. We respect their unique ability to care for the country and their deep spiritual connection to it. We honour Elders Past and present, who have resided in the area and who are an integral part of the region's history.
