Ka Chun ‘KC’ Leung

Masters & Mavericks fit

KC coaches the masters and mavericks squads at Yarra Plenty Waves. He focuses on improving technique, fitness, and confidence in the water, and loves running sessions that are supportive, purposeful, and enjoyable.

KC has experience teaching and coaching swimmers across Melbourne and the UK. He holds an Australian swim coach licence and still enjoys getting in the water himself to stay fit, prevent injury, and stay connected to the sport.

As a coach, KC is known for his strong observation skills and detailed stroke analysis. He enjoys working closely with swimmers to set personal goals and is always keen to learn from and collaborate with other coaches to help create an inclusive and professional training environment.

KC believes great coaching helps swimmers feel confident, resilient, and motivated, while building a life-long love of swimming. He aims to create welcoming sessions where everyone feels supported and proud to be part of the club.

Outside the pool, KC enjoys listening to orchestral music, spending time outdoors, and slowing down to recharge. A fun fact: he once attempted to walk from Seoul to Busan with just a backpack, staying offline for fourteen days before making it as far as Daejeon.

The Yarra River, from which our club is named, is known as Birrarung, meaning River of Mists in the language of Woiwurrung spoken by the Wurundjeri.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional custodians of this land. We respect their unique ability to care for the country and their deep spiritual connection to it. We honour Elders Past and present, who have resided in the area and who are an integral part of the region's history.
